ELA due next class...

1.  Read chapters 3,4,5  in Walk Two Moons.

2.  Add a passage and personal response to your notes…one for each of the 3 chapters.

3.  Hope you Comment on the Post about "Monday…what are you reading?"

It's Monday! What are you Reading? Week #1 of a series

Last week I decided to reread a book which I read 20 years ago!  The Once and Future King by E.H. White tells the story of the future young King Arthur (Wart) and all those who live in the stories as well.  Witty, descriptive, adventurous with a twist on today's issues too.  It's not for the faint of heart though...700 pages.  One of our 6th grade students read it this fall and I wanted so much to relive his joy of reading this book but could not remember a whole lot.  So...definitely worth the reread!

What are you reading?  For everyone who posts in the Comments and shares the title of what they're reading, I am making treats this week...maybe more of those yummy chocolate cookies...and you, my friend shall have one!

If any of your parents post a Comment, their sweet child will receive a Ticket!  If a teacher posts a Comment,  stop by for a treat later this week.

If you are not logged in to Google, type your name with your Comment.  You can just type the name of the book and Post or you can leave a bit of commentary like I did. Either, or.

What are you reading?

Friday's ELA Class

Today in class students joined a Class Group on a writing site called Storybird.  Many of us added a profile picture and began exploring the projects on the site to understand what the site can offer to writers. Some of us began a project.  It begins by looking at the Art categories, choosing one, and using the artwork offered to create a picture book.

Everyone agreed to ask someone face to face if he or she were okay if about accepting them as a Follower of their writing.  Of course, if you feel uncomfortable for any reason and want to Unfollow a classmate, that is okay to do.  Mrs. Leighton is a member of this Class and has already posted an Assignment to begin.  No due date yet.  We're all just exploring and practicing the use of this writing tool for now.

No permissions have been given to use during the school day yet...only in ELA class for now.  That will likely change very soon as Mrs. Leighton begins to see a responsible and respectful use of the site.

The purpose of the site in ELA class is to write projects for ELA, share with classmates, and grow as writers, thinkers, and first readers.

Monday Night Math Homework

We are starting the year off right!! I have created a homework folder for each student in 6th grade. It contains all their homework for the upcoming unit. These are bound in the folder, so hopefully nothing will fall out and get lost. I will continue to post the assignments here as well, but be on the lookout for a dark blue folder!

Tonight's assignment: page 82 "Getting Ready" to be done on a separate sheet of lined paper. Remember our label and name practice!
