ELA due Tuesday

Today in class students made a research folder.

Assignment:

Look at the handout I provided with a list of topics.  On the back of the paper brainstorm 3 possible HOT TOPICs on one of items listed on the handout.

My example:

Topic:  video games

Brainstorm:

1. Children should not play video games.
2.  Children, twelve years old or younger, should not play violent video games.
3.  Video games teach children to be passive aggressive.

ELA due Monday



Today you shared an informal writing on a topic you consider controversial.  That word controversial is a key vocabulary word for our unit.  Here is the assignment due Monday:

I gave you a large white notecard.

First, write the word CONTROVERSY on the plain side…large letters.  Next use art skills to decorate around the word or even the letters of the word itself.  Use color, design, drawing, etc.  Finally, on the lined side write a definition for the word.  A good one was provided on p. 162 of the text.
